10 Motivational Self-Help Books: Time-Tested Methods That Can Change Your Life
If I could credit one habit that has profoundly impacted my life, it would have to go to the books I read daily. I have compiled a list of the top 10 books that I feel are essential, inspiring, transformational and life-changing. If you read them and apply the principles you learn, your life will change, too. I guarantee it.
- The 4‑Hour Workweek - I read this book over a decade ago and it has changed everything. I used to think that you had to work yourself sick. I now look for ways to simplify and delegate work.
- The 5AM Book Club — Have you ever felt the need to take a quick break from reading to write down an important valuable piece of wisdom you just read? Well, this book will have you doing that every other minute. Read this book, give a copy to your loved ones and thank me later.
- Atomic Habits - James Clear is KING when it comes to habits. If I could only recommend one book…ugh, so many amazing ones…but if all you had time was to read one book, I would have to recommend this one. This revolutionary book will blow your mind. It’s all in your daily habits.
- The Power — Rhonda Byrne is also the author of The Secret, which is an excellent modern introduction to the Law of Attraction. The Power goes deeper into this way of thinking. “Give the best of you. Give love because when you give love, you will receive so much love and joy and you will feel it is almost more than you can take.”
- 12-Week Year - The 12 Week Year (and the Compound Effect below) inspired me write and publish my own 8‑Week Year Transformational Planner and create my 8 week online coaching program. It’s a brilliant book about setting and achieving goals. “Get more done in 12 weeks than most do in 12 months.”
- Think & Grow Rich — This is a classic, but it’s a lot to take in. I read this book every single year.
- Essentialism — I absolutely am always crushing on this author because this book has done so much for me. “The Way of the Essentialist isn’t about getting more done in less time. It’s not about getting less done. It’s about getting only the right things done. It’s about challenging the core assumption of ‘we can have it all’ and ‘I have to do everything’ and replacing it with the pursuit of ‘the right thing, in the right way, at the right time’. It’s about regaining control of our own choices about where to spend our time and energies instead of giving others implicit permission to choose for us.”
- The Compound Effect - I know I keep saying this about every book, but this truly is a must-read for those who are looking for the compound effect. “The Compound Effect is the strategy of reaping huge rewards from small, seemingly insignificant actions. You cannot improve something until you measure it. Always take 100 percent responsibility for everything that happens to you.”
- 10X Rule — Grant Cardone is a beast. Hands down, he’s a rockstar and will put fire in your a$$. You will certainly feel the heat. His high expectations will have you either running for the door or running to grab a pen and paper to map out your plan. It’s definitely not boring. He shames you for being broke, but it’s all out of love. And he’s really right, we are more powerful than we think. He’s not sugar-coating anything. Grab this copy and get ready to work.
- The Strangest Secret - I started studying the mindset about 15 years ago. My very first introduction to this way of living was The Strangest Secret. I wish I could thank the person (lost touch!) who gifted me the audio version because it changed my life forever. It’s a short inspiring essay. It’s even more powerful if you can listen to his (Earl Nightingale) voice. I’m certain you can find it for free on YouTube. “We are what repeatedly think about”.
There are many possible routes to get to your destination. I’m going to show you the one with the least amount of effort required, the fastest and most scenic. This planner will help you accomplish more in 8 weeks than most will in twelve months in any area of your life. GUARANTEED.
